This short video shows why it pays to check out the beaches you plan on detecting, to see if there are events or activities that will create target rich areas
One of the beaches I regularly detect has a Drum Circle every thursday evening - sometimes drawing over 500 people to a very small area of the beach.
These people dance around the drum circle, or spread out blankets and picnic, having a great time as the sun sets.
Most newcomers who detect this beach during the morning or afternoon aren't aware of the time or location of the drum circle, and because of that, they'll likely miss a target rich area.
Moral: if visiting a new beach, ask locals if there are drum circles or other events taking place on the beach. And if there are, find out when and where they occur, so you too will know about target rich areas of the beach.
